A lot has changed since we started as a small website design company seven years ago. We have matured into a full service digital agency (collars popped :)) helping businesses with digital strategy, website design, mobile app development and Internet marketing. Is your website doing the job you think it should be doing? We think that you should know about a few new developments that can make it more effective. Technical Responsive, aka Mobile Friendly, Websites On May 5th 2015, Google, the largest Internet search engine, reported  that mobile search now exceeds desktop search. In the USA, 94% of people with smartphones search for local information on their phones. Interestingly, 77% of mobile searches occur at home or at work, places where desktop computers are also likely to be present.More of your customers are looking for products and services on smartphones and tablets than on desktops or laptops. Mobile is critical to your business and will continue to be so. Can mobile users easily read your web pages to find the necessary information? The desktop version of a site might be difficult to view and to use on a mobile device. Must users pinch or zoom in order to read the content? Users find this experience frustrating and are likely to abandon your site. Make sure visitors can have a good experience on your site when they’re visiting from their mobile devices. Take this quick test to find out if your website is mobile friendly. For inspiration, take a look at our new website (I know, we’re bragging) via desktop, smartphone or tablet, and you will have a seamless experience. Design features like large buttons and icons, no zooming in or out required, make all the important information available with minimal clicks. SEO optimization Is your company rising to the top of search results? Make it easy for customers to find you by optimizing your website to improve its search engine ranking. Each page should have diligently curated meta data, including Keywords, Title, Meta Description, H1 tags, and content, for easy indexing by search engines. User Experience Tile and block structure People don’t read web pages, they skim them. Designing pages with distinct sections, blocks or tiles, will help users find information easily. Guiding your visitors with the right placement of elements will help users scan through the website – left to right, top to bottom, zigzag, etc. Video Testimonials Video testimonials add tremendous credibility to your company. There is no better endorsement than your customers willing to come in front of the camera to say good things about your products and services. Make It Personal Purchasing decisions are highly influenced by perceptions of the people behind your services. This is especially true of the Professional Services industry. Create a team page that provides information about the team’s background and credentials. Don’t forget to add information that might be relevant to your users. Case Studies The most important question potential clients ask is, “Have you done something similar before, and if so, what?” A well-crafted case study or portfolio can make all the difference in acquiring your next big client. It takes resources – time and talent, to showcase your work in detail. However, the effort always pays off. 20 second rule TEST! TEST! TEST! You typically have 20 seconds to impress a user. Make sure that your website’s copy has been written and proofread by a professional copywriter. Test it on Desktops, Mobile Devices, Tablets, and all major browsers. Noticeable issues on the website can quickly turn potential clients off. Like our newsletter? Hate it? Have comments or suggestions? Please tell us (contact page), we would love your feedback.
