CMS platforms like Joomla are updated on a frequent basis with security enhancement and bug fixes; these upgrades are routine and although important, aren’t quite as noteworthy as Joomla’s most recent upgrade. About a month ago, Joomla launched version 3.1 of its platform, marketing a development milestone, whose most noticeable feature is the built-in dynamic tagging system. The newest tagging system goes beyond articles, and allows integration with other areas, such as feeds and contacts. Developers are now able to create more dynamic layouts, lists and blogs, organizing content quickly and with ease. There’s also an API for developer integration w/ other extensions. So what does this all mean? Basically, sites and blogs can now have a more customized delivery of content – not just article tags, but also products, user profiles, events, images and videos – all delivered in one nicely packaged format. It’s a remarkable advance that no other CMS can yet claim. In addition to tagging, Joomla 3 meets many of the other critical developer criteria, including: mobile-friendliness, user-friendly and standardized interfaces, multilingual support and easy 30-second install with one-click upgrades. Joomla is already one of the most popular software programs on the market, and with updates like this, it’s not hard to see why.
